An online school, in the full sense of the word: examined teachers, a purpose-built classroom, a curriculum with a book for every course, a coordinator who keeps the timetable, and a record of every lesson that a parent can read.
Because "online Qur'an classes" had come to mean a video call and a hope.
Families across Britain, North America, Australia and the Gulf want their children to read the Qur'an properly, and increasingly they look online to find a teacher. What they find is a market: a teacher on WhatsApp or Zoom holding a Qur'an to the camera, a fee, and no way of knowing whether the teacher was ever examined, whether the child is actually progressing, or what happens if the teacher disappears next month.
We built a school instead. The classroom is our own, designed for the one thing it does — two people on one page of the mushaf, with audio that keeps the letters intact and a record that writes itself. The teachers sit an examination in recitation and teaching before they meet a child, and pass a background check before they are appointed. The curriculum is a book for every course, seeded page by page, so a lesson is never improvised. A coordinator keeps every timetable. And every month, a parent receives evidence — pages, corrections, clips — not an opinion.
Two names, one institution. Squran is the everyday brand and the app. The School of Qur'anic Studies is the institution: what appears on a certificate, on an ijāzah, and on this site.
Six commitments
No teacher meets a child unexamined
Recitation and teaching, examined from a recording, marked by the Registrar; background-checked; technically ready; committed in writing.
Parents can see everything
Every recording of their own child, every page covered, every correction, every invoice. Nothing is taken on trust that can be shown.
Qur'anic text is never decoration
The mushaf on our screen is content, at legible size, page-faithful. It is not a background, a flourish or a logo.
Gender-matched teaching, honoured
A request for a female teacher is fixed on the record and never overridden by convenience.
Fees stated in full, in advance
Every number on the fees page before you book. No hidden registration, no surprise currency, no notice period.
A student who misses a week is welcomed back
Not scolded by a streak counter. The record picks up where it left off, and so does the teacher.
