Children from about four years old, and adults who were never taught the letters. No prior knowledge is assumed — not even the alphabet.
- The twenty-eight letters, and how each one changes shape at the start, middle and end of a word
- The short vowels (ḥarakāt), sukūn, tanwīn and the lengthening letters
- Joining letters into syllables, then syllables into the first words of the Qurʾān
- Correct articulation from the first day — the point in the mouth each letter comes from
Reads any joined Arabic word aloud, slowly and correctly, and is ready for Nazirah.
The teacher opens a takhti — a ruled slate of coloured cells — on the shared board. The letter is marked in gold, the student sounds it, and the recitation checker listens for the articulation point. A page is finished only when it is read clean.

About Noorani Qaidah
What age can a child start the Noorani Qaidah?
Most children start between four and six. The lessons are thirty minutes, the letters are taught on a large coloured board, and nothing is assumed — not even that the child has seen Arabic script before. Adults who never learned the letters begin here too.
How long does the Noorani Qaidah take to complete?
It depends on the child's age and how many lessons a week they take. The book is twenty pages, and a page is only finished when it is read correctly, so the pace is set by the student rather than a calendar. Your teacher tells you where your child is after every lesson, and the monthly report shows the pages completed.
Does my child need to know any Arabic first?
No. The Qaidah begins with the shapes and sounds of the individual letters.
